Plano, Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas, TX, is a very affluent area located in Collin County. Being the ninth largest city in the state is a distinction maintained by the population growth from the 2000 U.S. Census of 222,030 to the most recent 2006 estimate of 255,009; Plano is also the 70th largest city in the United States. From the 2008 Census estimates of median household income, Plano was declared the wealthiest city among cities with populations over 250,000.
The city of Plano is in the northern part of the Metroplex which refers to the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan Statistical Area, or MSA. The Metroplex is made up of 12 Texas counties.
