Daniel A. Valenzuela represents a diverse group of individual clients and companies throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex with successful resolutions on issues relating to divorces, custody issues, child support, intellectual property matters, and business disputes.
He served as the law clerk and staff attorney to Judge Mike Herrera, 383rd District Court, El Paso County, Texas, for approximately three years. During that time, he facilitated the disposal of 3,500 family law cases a year and conducted nearly 100 court dismissal hearings each Friday. He conducted research and analysis where he provided his recommendations on complex legal and procedural matters. After working with Judge Mike Herrera, Mr. Valenzuela joined a boutique law firm in Dallas, Texas, where he continued strengthening his family law knowledge and skills.
He also worked with the El Paso County Domestic Relations Office where he focused on enforcement of child support and visitation rights while developing a thorough understanding and practical application of Texas family law.
Mr. Valenzuela’s background also includes overcoming objections from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and assisting in obtaining patents and trademarks with a law firm in Austin, Texas. He researched and analyzed diverse intellectual property issues such as distinguishing confusingly similar trademarks, registering copyrights, and resolving anticipation issues within the Patent Act. His understanding of intellectual property matters is also strengthened by his knowledge of engineering. Prior to attending law school, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso. During the final year of his electrical engineering studies, he facilitated in designing a million dollar project known as the Synchronous Optical Network (SONET) for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDot) in El Paso, Texas.
He is admitted to practice in Texas state courts and graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law. During his second year of law school, he concentrated in Texas law and intellectual property at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, Texas. He was a member of North Dakota Law Review and is the author of the published article, Can an Inventor Continue Protecting an Expired Patented Product via Trade Dress Protection? 81 North Dakota Law Review (NDLR) 145.
During Mr. Valenzuelas free time, he enjoys swimming, traveling, and spending time with his fiance, friends, and family.
